Abnormal time-consuming solving frictional contact problems
Abnormal time-consuming solving frictional contact problems
Dear all,
I have a MCP, concerning a frictional contact problem of two cantilever beams, that I wish to solve.
Attached is the gams model and 2 data sets (DAT1.dat and DAT2.dat).
DAT2 is a refined mesh of the same problem. DAT2 has 7974 nodes while DAT1 has 2118 nodes.
My question:
Why does the MCP solver take far larger time of DAT2 than that of DAT1 ( 95s compared to 2.7s )?
I am using PATH solver, GAMS 24.6.1.
Many thanks,
Weiwei

Re: Abnormal time-consuming solving frictional contact problems
WeiWei:
I solve the larger (DAT2) problem in about 36 sec using PATH's emulation of Lemke's method.
I am sure Steve Dirkse / Michael Ferris can do much better.
Cheers
